Spring Creek Ranch
If you know me, you know I love places that make life simple. Spring Creek Ranch in Creede, does exactly that—upriver from town along the Rio Grande Reservoir Road, it’s peaceful, scenic, and perfectly placed for long weekends that blend fresh air, easy exploring, and a pop into downtown for dinner and a show.
Family-friendly hikes I actually recommend:
North Clear Creek Falls Overlook (≈0.3 mi loop, very easy). A quick, mostly paved stroll to one of Colorado’s most photogenic waterfalls. Benches, railings, and a wide overlook make it a win for little legs, grandparents, and stroller crews.
Shaw Lake Loop (≈1.5 mi, easy). Gentle trail around a high-country lake with big views and lots of “throw a rock in” moments. Pack a snack and take it slow—kids love spotting ducks and watching ripples race to the shore.
Rio Grande Gorge Loop (≈0.7 mi, easy). Short, scenic loop near town along the river. It’s a great first-day leg-stretcher to shake out the drive and acclimate before bigger adventures.
For the hunters: You’re in the right county. Mineral County sits near some of Colorado’s most coveted big-game opportunities (elk, deer, bear, and more).
Downtown Creede, minutes away: One of my favorite things about Spring Creek Ranch is how quickly you can switch from trail boots to Main Street. Grab coffee, browse a gallery or two, and catch a performance at the Creede Repertory Theatre—a nationally recognized gem that turns a regular evening into a memory. On Saturdays in peak season, you’ll often find markets, music, and friendly faces on every block.
If you’re dreaming of a home that puts river days, kid-approved hikes, and authentic small-town charm within easy reach, Creede, CO is the place for you. Give us a call to find your next home.
